Stress and anxiety are often confused to mean the same thing. Anxiety is essentially “unresolved stress”. Unlike stress, anxiety is all about fear; a fear of what might happen. With anxiety our mind has a habit of looking ahead to the future and thinking up all sorts of negative scenarios.
When we are experiencing anxiety our mind’s favourite expression is “What if?”. How many times have you found yourself worrying about what might happen? If the answer to this is “often” then you may be experiencing a degree of anxiety.
You may find that you feel:
a sense of dread
“jumpy” or “on edge”
unable to concentrate
Anxiety also has physical symptoms, which can include:
pins and needles
shaking or trembling
a fast or irregular heartbeat
a dry mouth
If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms you should discuss them with your GP as it is important that any underlying medical conditions are ruled out. Once you are confident that you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety hypnosis is an excellent place to start.
